Seattle Gratia Church held a Sunday service with a grateful heart. The members meditated on Mark 10:17-22, Exodus 32:1-4, and the title was materialism. Members studied how they should not serve two Gods in their life, and one element that we are often influenced by is money. Throughout human history and currently, we live in a world where the money is conquering our lives. People grow up believing that happiness can be obtained by gaining more money. Thus, the reason for their living tends to be all about earning a lot of money. But the question we need to ask is whether we can bring our wealth to our afterlife. When we die, all the wealth is meaningless before death. Even Solomon, who once was the wealthiest and had all the materials he wanted, stated that everything is meaningless. What’s left after our physical body dies is our spirit that breathes eternally. We need to continuously remind ourselves that our time on earth is temporary and that this time is very precious that should be utilized to gain ourselves a place in the Kingdom of God. We can only become true Christian and can be reborn when we have the faith to give up all of our belongings and follow God only. As we are not perfect, overcoming materialism can be extremely tedious because it is directly tied to our survival. However, we need to remember that God promised us a better future. When we put our faith in God first, He will provide our daily needs. God knows what’s best for us, and He always prepares better than our own plan. Let’s strengthen our faith and serve God only in our life.

The regular members make the church atmosphere more bright and active nowadays as they are making the gatherings and mini-retreat by themselves. They plan to hold the mini-retreat with potluck lunch fellowship with lectures on the 3rd of March.

The church had a graceful Friday Prayer meeting this week with a newcomer. They meditated on ‘The Parable of the Fig Tree’ from Mark chapter 11. They received a lot of grace and had a graceful time to share the reflection of each other.

Please pray for these members to grow well to be united with the church in God.

Seattle Gratia church held Wednesday bible service on the Matthew 26:6-13, Breaking the Alabaster Jar. Jesus reached out to Simon, who was a leper. People who had leprosy were isolated because it was a disease that could never be healed. People who have this disease are known to have indulged in filthy love. While nobody these days approached the people with leprosy disease, Jesus wasn’t afraid to be with Simon. Jesus had a merciful heart to approach those who fall short glory of God. Even though all of us are sinners, Jesus sought out to us, and this is a great grace we should all be thankful for. Without this grace, we are destined to die eternally. A woman named Mary comes out, and she breaks her alabaster jar and pours oil to Jesus. Jesus’s disciples did not understand the action of her and rebuked her for wasting the oil. However, Jesus understood the amazing love this woman has shown to Him and was touched by her act. While disciples were the ones who were closest to Jesus and were with Him all the time, they were not better off than this woman. They could not understand the value of love and only could see this action as a materialistic view. We all have to remember that we have been given unconditional love, and it’s our turn to give our bests to the Lord.

On Sunday, Gratia church held graceful Sunday Service with a newcomers. The church members gathered together and worshiped God with a sincere hearts.

Title of today’s message was “Dust and Spirit.” During our time on earth, we have a spiritual and physical body. While physical body perishes as time passes, our spiritual body remains forever. The pastor made an important claim that what we have here today, we won’t be able to bring it to us after life. Thus, what is most important? It is our spirit that is truly the most important within us. Bible said our body is a temple, which indicates that we have to maintain a pure spirit and feed our spirit constantly with word of God to keep our spirit healthy. There is no denying that there will be a judgment, we have no clue when this judgment day comes. Therefore, we need to be always prepared and seek his kingdom. We are not alone; we have our spiritual family and our God, who always watches over us as God told: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Please continue to pray for the faithful work of God to be revealed and for the members to increase and grow in faith.

By the grace of God, Seattle Gratia Church is blessed with newcomer sisters joining the Sunday service on October 14th.

The Sunday sermon emphasized on the image of God, taken from the scripture Genesis chapter 1. The preacher Pastor Charlotte explicated the meaning of the image of God and the meaning of the existence of human lives. The Bible teaches us clearly that God created us with His own image and because of this image every individual is valuable and precious. However, many people in this world today struggle to find their value of existence because of many wrong human standards that defines human value. How should we discover the value of our life? Based on what scale should we measure our worth? The Bible teaches us that when we engrave and reveal the image of God, our value is revealed. The preacher exhorted the attendants to be the ones who seek the love of God with passion and live a meaningful life focusing on the desires of the spirit.

Below are the reflections from the members.

Ekta
After today’s message about the image of God, I have an answer to what is the purpose of our lives. The purpose of our life is to love God and share his gift of love with others. My take away from today’s service is God is love and love is God

Brandi
Today’s message was about creation, being made in God’s image, and how God is love. We need to have a relationship with God before anything else. When we cultivate a relationship with him frist, then we can love others. God wants us to be fruitful – to love on another. We must always strive to have the highest & strongest relationship with God.

Seung-wook
From today’s message, I learned that we are very special beings made in the image of God. God prepared everything before us and gave us a freedom and ordered us to be fruitful and increase in number. Today’s message was a very important basic message that we are created for God’s purpose. We are created to have a love relationship (Vertical) with God. We must see what’s true purpose of our lives and love God back as God have always loved us.

Scottie
When God created the world, he created for us. He made the animals and plants for us. He made us so that he could love us. He gave us all of this and all he asks for in return is that we love him back. If we do not know love then we cannot know God. In my life, I need to focus more on God and strengthen my relationship with him.

Please continue to pray for the growth of every Church members in faith and in love.

Gratia Community Church held a Sunday service at Gratia Community Church in Christ. This time one new family visit to church Service together.

The minister preached a message from the book of Luke 15, He emphasized “The shepherd had 100 sheep, but then he lost one of them. By the way, he left 99 sheep in the open field and goes after the lost one. When we look at it, it does not make sense. Of course, 99 sheep is more important than 1 sheep. Let’s think about it. When we compare 99 to 1, of course, 99 are larger than 1. By the way, in this message, he left 99 on the open country, goes after the lost one. The math in the Kingdom of Heaven is different from the math on earth. It is impossible to interpret or analyze the love of God with our reason. With our reason, we cannot grasp it.”

He also said “Human is reasonable being. But according to today’s Jesus’ saying. We can see the different dimensional world. There is surpassing knowledge which is beyond the world of reason. Today’s verse teaches us that we have to know noble knowledge. In the Kingdom of Heaven, 1 sheep is bigger than 99 sheep. Because of its preciousness, he goes after it. It is his love for the lost sheep. And it is the love of God. This is a noble knowledge. It’s not common knowledge but noble knowledge. How can we know this noble knowledge? We can know it with faith. We cannot know this knowledge with our reason, but we can know it through only faith.”

When : July 7-8

Where : Seattle Gratia Community Church (1314 NE 43RD ST #202, SEATTLE, WA 98015)

We will have a leadership training for potential leaders through the Romans and prayer.

Romans is one of the important book in the Bible. Early Church Father, Augustine experienced conversion by reading the last several verses of Romans 13. Martin Luther’s protestant reformation started when he realized the meaning of Romans 1:17 “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” John Wesley, The founder of Methodist Movement was in despair and could not find the strength and faith to continue to preach. He was about to give up his ministry. But on May 24th 1738, Holy Spirit worked in his heart. In the evening, he attended a meeting in Aldersgate and listened some one read Luther’s Preface to the Epistle to Romans. He felt his heart strangely warmed.

Let’s look at the Romans deeply together and pray for the Holy Spirit work in us.

If you have any question or want to join this event, please contact church. Thank you.
